Description
Delicious and creamy mashed sweet potatoes, perfect as a side dish.
Ingredients

- 3 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup heavy cream or milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Place peeled and cubed sweet potatoes in a large pot. Cover with water and bring to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender.
- Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot. Let sit uncovered for a few minutes.
- Mash with a masher or hand mixer. Add butter, cream, salt, pepper, and optional flavorings.
- Continue mashing until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Serve warm with an extra pat of butter on top.
Notes
- For a sweeter flavor, add more maple syrup.
- Try adding garlic for a savory twist.
