Description

A delicious cheesy beef lasagna slice perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 9 to 12 sheets lasagna noodles
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook Noodles: Boil lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Sauté Aromatics: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Brown Meat: Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat.
  5. Add Sauce and Seasonings: Stir in marinara sauce, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
  6. Prepare Ricotta Mixture: In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, half of the Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.
  7. Assemble Lasagna: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a baking dish. Add a layer of noodles. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles. Sprinkle a layer of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers, ending with noodles and meat sauce on top. Finish with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Cool and Serve: Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For richer flavor, consider adding a splash of red wine to the meat sauce.
  • To make ahead, assemble the lasagna and refrigerate it, baking it fresh when needed.
  • Use a blend of different cheeses for added flavor, such as provolone or asiago.
  • Ensure the lasagna cools slightly to hold its shape when sliced.
