Description

Delicious chocolate acorn-shaped cupcakes perfect for any festive occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • Mini pretzel sticks (for stems)
  • Chocolate sprinkles
  • Frosting (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cupcakes:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
    • Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners.
    • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    • Allow cupcakes to cool completely on a wire rack.
  2. Make the Chocolate Ganache:
    • Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
    • Remove from heat and pour over chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl.
    • Let sit for 5 minutes, then whisk until smooth and glossy.
  3. Assemble the Acorns:
    • Dip the top of each cooled cupcake into the ganache, letting excess drip off.
    • While the ganache is still wet, insert a mini pretzel stick into the center as the acorn stem.
    • Optionally, add chocolate sprinkles on the ganache dipped part for texture.
  4. Decorate:
    • Pipe a small swirl of frosting on top if desired, or leave simple with chocolate sprinkles.

Notes

  • Store cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or refrigerate to keep fresh longer.
  • Ensure cupcakes are completely cooled before dipping in ganache to prevent melting and sliding.
  • Experiment with different sprinkle colors or shapes for a festive touch.
