Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Make Batter: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until well combined.
  5. Bake: Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely on wire racks.

  10. Layer Cake: Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread some cherry filling and whipped cream over the top.
  11. Repeat Layers: Place the second cake layer on top. Repeat with remaining cherry filling and whipped cream.
  12. Decorate: Top cake with fresh cherries and chocolate shavings.
