Description

A delicious grilled sandwich featuring fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, and basil, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Ciabatta or French bread
  • 8 ounces Fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 2 Ripe tomatoes
  • 1 bunch Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • to taste Balsamic glaze (optional)
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Slice the ciabatta or French bread into sandwich-sized portions.
    • Cut the fresh mozzarella into thin slices.
    • Slice the tomatoes evenly.
    • Wash and pat dry the basil leaves.
  2. Assemble the Sandwich:
    • Open the bread and drizzle some olive oil on each side.
    • Layer slices of mozzarella on the bottom half.
    • Add tomato slices over the cheese.
    • Place fresh basil leaves on top of the tomatoes.
    • Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
    • Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired.
    • Close the sandwich with the top half of the bread.
  3. Grill the Panini:
    • Preheat a panini press or grill pan over medium heat.
    • Brush the outside of the sandwich with olive oil.
    • Place the sandwich on the grill and press down gently.
    • Grill until the bread is golden and crispy, and the cheese is melted (about 3-5 minutes per side).
  4. Serve:
    • Remove the panini from the grill.
    • Let it cool for a minute or two before cutting.
    • Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a thin layer of pesto on the inside of the bread before assembling.
  • Use a heavy skillet as a makeshift press if you don’t have a panini press.
  • Experiment with multi-grain or sourdough bread for a different texture.
  • Add a hint of garlic by rubbing a cut garlic clove on the bread before assembling.
