Description
A delicious grilled sandwich featuring fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, and basil, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze.

- 2 Ciabatta or French bread
- 8 ounces Fresh mozzarella cheese
- 2 Ripe tomatoes
- 1 bunch Fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons Olive oil
- to taste Balsamic glaze (optional)
- to taste Salt
- to taste Black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients:
- Slice the ciabatta or French bread into sandwich-sized portions.
- Cut the fresh mozzarella into thin slices.
- Slice the tomatoes evenly.
- Wash and pat dry the basil leaves.
- Assemble the Sandwich:
- Open the bread and drizzle some olive oil on each side.
- Layer slices of mozzarella on the bottom half.
- Add tomato slices over the cheese.
- Place fresh basil leaves on top of the tomatoes.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired.
- Close the sandwich with the top half of the bread.
- Grill the Panini:
- Preheat a panini press or grill pan over medium heat.
- Brush the outside of the sandwich with olive oil.
- Place the sandwich on the grill and press down gently.
- Grill until the bread is golden and crispy, and the cheese is melted (about 3-5 minutes per side).
- Serve:
- Remove the panini from the grill.
- Let it cool for a minute or two before cutting.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a thin layer of pesto on the inside of the bread before assembling.
- Use a heavy skillet as a makeshift press if you don’t have a panini press.
- Experiment with multi-grain or sourdough bread for a different texture.
- Add a hint of garlic by rubbing a cut garlic clove on the bread before assembling.
