Description

A delightful twist on classic cinnamon rolls, enhanced with crispy bacon and sweet maple syrup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it bubbles. Add the melted butter, egg, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll the dough into a rectangle shape. Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly. Drizzle half of the maple syrup over the cinnamon sugar layer.
  3. Roll and Cut: Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other, forming a log. Cut the roll into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  4. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Let the rolls rise for an additional 30 minutes. Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.
  6. Add Bacon and Syrup: Sprinkle the chopped bacon over the glazed rolls. Drizzle the remaining maple syrup on top.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast properly.
  • For a richer flavor, use thick-cut bacon.
  • Adjust the amount of maple syrup and bacon to your taste preference.
  • For overnight preparation, prepare and cut the rolls, then refrigerate. Allow them to come to room temperature before baking in the morning.
