- 1 pound ground beef (80% lean)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 16 slices pepperoni
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
- Optional: red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Prepare the Patties:
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty slightly larger than the buns.
- Cook the Patties:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
- Place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
- Prepare the Pizza Buns:
- Preheat the broiler to high.
- Place the bottom halves of the hamburger buns on a baking sheet.
- Spread pizza sauce over each bun and layer with 2 slices of pepperoni.
- Add a slice of mozzarella cheese on top and broil for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.
- Assemble the Burger:
- Place the cooked patties on the prepared buns.
- Top each patty with more pizza sauce, additional pepperoni slices, and fresh basil leaves.
- Add the top half of the bun and press gently to secure.
