Description

A delicious and satisfying croissant sandwich filled with ham, cheese, and fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 fresh croissants
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of cheese (such as Swiss or cheddar)
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • Lettuce leaves
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: a pinch of dried herbs (like oregano or thyme)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) if you prefer warm croissants.

  2. Slice the croissants in half horizontally using a sharp knife.

  3. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves.

  4. Slice the tomato into even rounds.

  5. In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard together. Add salt, pepper, and any optional herbs to taste.

  6. Spread the mayonnaise mixture on the inner sides of each croissant half.

  7. Layer the lettuce leaves on the bottom half of the croissant.

  8. Place two slices of ham and two slices of cheese on top of the lettuce.

  9. Add tomato slices on top of the cheese.

  10. Close the croissant with the top half and gently press down to secure the filling.

  11. If desired, place the assembled croissants in the oven for 5-7 minutes to lightly melt the cheese and warm the croissants.

Notes

  • Feel free to substitute ham with turkey or chicken slices for a different flavor.
  • Replace meat with grilled vegetables like zucchini or bell peppers for a vegetarian version.
  • Try smoked gouda or brie for a unique taste.
  • Serve the croissant sandwiches with a side salad or soup for a complete meal.
  • For a crispier texture, consider lightly toasting the inner sides of the croissants on a skillet before assembling.
