Description
Delicious slow cooker BBQ baby back ribs that are tender and flavorful.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 pounds baby back ribs
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce (plus extra for basting)
- Cooking spray or oil
Instructions
- Remove the silver membrane from the back of the ribs by loosening a corner with a knife and pulling it off using a paper towel.
- Pat ribs dry with paper towels.
- Mix paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and cayenne in a bowl. Rub the mixture thoroughly over both sides of the ribs.
- Grease your slow cooker insert with cooking spray or a light coat of oil.
- Cut the racks in half if needed and arrange the ribs in the slow cooker—stack or curl them to fit.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until meat is tender and pulling from the bone.
- Carefully remove ribs using tongs and transfer to a foil-lined baking sheet.
- Brush generously with extra BBQ sauce.
- Broil in the oven for 3–5 minutes, watching closely, until sauce bubbles and caramelizes.
- Let ribs rest for 5 minutes before slicing between the bones and serving.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, increase the amount of cayenne pepper.
- Make sure to watch the ribs closely while broiling to avoid burning.
