Description

These Bang Bang Ground Turkey Rice Bowls are vibrant, hearty, and packed with flavor, hitting all the right notes of savory, spicy, sweet, and fresh.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup cucumber, thinly sliced or julienned
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice according to package instructions. White rice, brown rice, or jasmine rice all work well here; you want something that will soak up the flavorful sauce.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and rice vinegar. Taste and adjust the heat if needed—add more sriracha for a spicier sauce. Set aside.
  3. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground turkey, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Season the turkey with soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and let everything simmer for 1-2 more minutes so the flavors really meld.
  4. Scoop cooked rice into bowls. Top with a generous helping of the seasoned ground turkey. Add your fresh veggies—shredded carrots, sliced cucumbers, and green onions. Drizzle the bang bang sauce generously over the top, then finish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Notes

  • This sauce makes the bang bang ground turkey rice bowls unforgettable; it’s creamy, a little tangy, sweet, and has a signature heat.
