- 12 cups stale white bread, cut into 1 inch cubes
- 3/4 cup plus 2 tbsp butter, divided
- 1 large yellow or white onion, chopped
- 2 cups celery, chopped
- 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp poultry seasoning
- 1/2 tsp marjoram
- 3 tbsp fresh sage, chopped
- 1/3 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup chicken broth or stock
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, melt 1/2 cup of butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery, sautéing until soft.
- Add salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, and marjoram. Stir in sage and parsley.
- In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes with the sautéed mixture.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and chicken broth. Pour over the bread mixture and gently mix until combined.
- Transfer the stuffing to a greased baking dish, dot with remaining butter, and bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding cooked sausage or nuts to the stuffing.
